Young Ringer Support Scheme
What is the Young Ringer Support Scheme?
It is a new scheme to provide financial support for young ringers in the Region who wish to attend National or Regional handbell events.
Who can apply?
Young ringers up to age 25 inclusive, irrespective of educational/employment status.
Must I be able to read music?
There is no absolute requirement to be able to read music but it may be necessary at some events (such as the National Residential Ringing Week).
Im under 18, will I need a chaperone?
Yes, you must be able to nominate a chaperone who may, but need not, be a delegate who must be in attendance whenever you are participating in the event. The fund will not cover the costs of a chaperone.
What will the fund cover?
Attendance at any National HRGB event (including National Rallies) or Regional HRGB event. In particular:
- The full or partial costs of the delegate fees for the event (including accommodation where this forms part of the fee e.g. in the case of a Residential Ringing Week).
- The full or partial cost of music required for the event.
What will the fund not cover?
- It will not normally cover the costs of travel to and from the event.
- The costs of a chaperone.
- International events.
Do I need to be an HRGB member?
Yes.
How can I apply?
Prior to booking for the event concerned, write a letter or email to the EAR Chairperson or Secretary accompanied by an endorsement from the leader of the team with whom you normally ring. If you are under 18, please give details of a chaperone.
Then what happens?
A sub-group of the EAR Committee will consider your application, ask any questions required, assess funds available and respond with their decision.
What else will I have to do?
Agree to attend all programmed activities as appropriate.
Provide a report, to be published in the EAR Magazine, of your experience at the event.
